We aim to support all providers across the sector, regardless of whether you are independently operated, a franchisee or a franchisor.
Yes. Once you’ve entered your details and made payment you will be taking to the members area where you can start utilising the available resources.
Insurance cover will be effective immediately. Certificates will be emailed to you within 14 days, if you require one urgently please email us at hello@institutecap.co.uk
No, our membership is entirely online.
We will run live online events every month for members.
Every year we host an Annual Conference live and in person.
No. When you become a member, you can apply immediately at no extra cost. Once you receive your rating you will simply need to continue being a member to display the quality assurance badge on your website and marketing.
We put members at the heart of everything we do. ICAP was created in direct response to, what we felt, was inadequate support offerings in the children’s activity sector. We do this through our toolkits and guides, live and recorded workshops, in person events and benchmark ratings.
Yes, we are a limited company with both social and commercial aims independently run.
All memberships will be set up with recurring payments, meaning you don’t need to worry about your membership lapsing.
We’ll be sad to see you go but understand you may need to cancel. This is easily done by emailing hello@institutecap.co.uk

Yes, as long as the activities you run are not on our excluded list and you comply with the terms of our membership.
Any business type is covered, from Sole traders, through to Limited Companies.
Absolutely. The cover is for each separate legal entity, if you are a member of us and comply, you are covered.
Yes, every brand must have completed our Assurance Rating system but don’t worry, you will have 45 days grace to do this from the date of signing. If you are part of a Franchise network, this is only required once per brand, so we will contact your Franchisor to arrange this.
There are also obligations on each business for example to ensure staff are suitably qualified, for a full list of terms please see here
An Employer Reference Number is a unique identifier given to you by HMRC if you operate a formal payroll for your business. This is required as your details must be held on a central database of insurers to ensure any historic claims can be covered.
Note: Details of your ERN must be provided upon purchase.
You can find your ERN on any documentation from HMRC relating to payroll.
Example places are:
- Correspondence from HMRC
- On any P45, P60, P11D or Payslip for any employee currently, or previously employed by your business

Yes. We would expect ‘corporate’ customer to be something like a nursery setting,
Yes. Cover is anywhere in the UK, any environment is accept subject to appropriate risk management being in place.

Yes. We expect this to be light catering i.e. sandwiches, crisps, cake etc. If it were a full catering operation we would expect this to have the necessary food hygiene practices to be in place.
From an insurance perspective, Labour only subcontractors, i.e. self employed teachers are counted as Employees for the purposes of insurance and are covered.

We recommend Self Employed teachers do have their own Liability Insurance.
Both children and adults are covered for all activities on the approved list.
This is providing that the activities are risk assessed for the target age group. i.e. they wouldn’t want adults and children participating in sporting contests together or on play equipment where an obvious risk of injury exists from a larger person falling on a child.
Any item used in connection with your business with the exception of cars or vans. This could be inflatables, toys, music equipment or laptops. Please note any claim is subject to an excess of £250
