Safeguarding Course

£20 for one year's access.

This course is designed to provide children activity providers with the knowledge, skills and understanding of Safeguarding and Wellbeing that is required to promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and to protect them from harm. 

The course will cover understanding the implications of safeguarding and well-being for activity providers, the roles, and responsibilities of all involved, the various categories of abuse, the legal framework surrounding safeguarding, how to recognise abuse, the importance of reporting concerns, and how to respond appropriately to safeguarding incidents.

The course takes less than 2 hours. 

You don’t have to complete the course all in one go. 

Course Outline

Module 1: Introduction to Safeguarding

  • Introduction to Safeguarding

Module 2: Roles and Responsibilities

  • Roles and responsibilities of different professionals in Safeguarding
  • Multi-agency working in Safeguarding
  • Benefits of MASH

Module 3: Categories of Abuse

  • Overview of different types of abuse (e.g. physical, emotional, sexual)
  • Signs and symptoms of abuse
  • Factors that may increase vulnerability to abuse

Module 4: The Legal Framework

  • Legislation Acts & Regulations
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Legislation & Codes of Practice

Module 5: Recognising and Responding to Abuse

  • Strategies for recognising abuse
  • Importance of reporting concerns
  • Procedures for Responding to Safeguarding Incidents

Module 6: Preventing Abuse and Promoting Well-being

  • Strategies for preventing abuse
  • Promoting well-being of children and vulnerable adults
  • Importance of ongoing training and development in Safeguarding

Assessment

This course will be assessed:

  • At the end of each module, learners will be required to complete a MCQ (multi choice questions) to test their understanding of the content.
  • Full completion of the modules will be required for successful Certification release.

Revalidation: is every 3 years to update knowledge.

Continual Professional development (CPD) 

On successful completion the learner will gain 1 CPD point.

Certification

Learners who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion. The certificate will confirm that they have demonstrated the knowledge, skills and understanding required for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

Pip Wilkins

Pip Wilkins is the Chief Executive of the British Franchise Association (bfa). Theo Millward

Theo Millward is a graduate of Lancaster University with a BBA in Management. In 2016 Theo purchased UK swim school, Swimtime from the founders which teaches 20,000 children a week. Following a multi-award- winning digital transformation, during the global pandemic, Theo and his team founded Franscape, a saas that digitally transforms Franchise brands. FranScape won New Business of the Year at the UK Business Awards.

Andy Georgiou

Andy is the Founder of ICAP and a leading UK Franchise Business Consultant. He is fiercely committed to helping children’s activity providers build successful and profitable businesses. With qualifications in Business Management, Digital Media and Marketing, he has helped build, advise and grow leading 6 and 7 fiqure children’s education, sports and activity brands in the past 17 years.

Frank Sahlein

Frank has been active in the Children’s Activity Center industry as an athlete, coach, business owner, consultant and business broker. He is a native of San Mateo, California and graduated from San Jose State University in California (USA).
Frank was a pioneer of the Children’s Learning Opportunity Center concept from 1976 – 2016 at the Wings Center in Boise, Idaho (USA) – a blend of Sports Instruction, Arts, Education, Entertainment and Outreach programs.
As a business management innovator, Frank has delivered over 1,000 presentations for a variety of Children’s Activity Center industries such as gymnastics, swimming, cheerleading, dance, martial arts/ninja and child care/education.
